Joy

Today's project came from the Thrifty Decor Chick. The blogger's name is Sarah and she does a blog about decorating inexpensively.  She has a TON of ideas that anyone could do for a very minimum cost.  I particularly was taken by her post entitled The Joy of Red!  This post featured a wall hanging with letters that show the word "joy."  I was really excited when I saw this project on pinterest.  Now let me tell you something.  Are you listening?  I am NOT crafty!  I think the crafting fairy forgot me when she came to town.  This project really didn't take much talent at all.  All you need are 3 canvases of whatever size you choose, the letters to spell joy, ribbon, paint, hot glue gun, hot glue, and a paint brush.  Most of these items could be laying around you house right now!  Go look!  I bet you could find at least one of these items in a drawer somewhere.  Now Sarah's project was very classic looking.  That is definitely not my style.  I like loud, crazy colors.  This is Sarah's:

Her project has clean lines and I'm sure she took her time and measured to make sure everything was correctly placed.  Reminder here, I'm not crafty!  I was very pleased with my final project.  The letters were a little cooked and they may not have been evenly spaced but I am proud of it...because I'm not crafty and I was able to reproduce something that looked half-way decent (in my opinion).  Here is my version:

If you look closely my "O" is crooked but overall it looks great.  I chose brighter versions of the red and green and chose red ribbon instead of gold (because it was on sale). I got many compliments over the holidays when people stopped by.  This project was really quick.  The most time consuming thing was the painting because I had to let the paint dry and then I decided to do a second coat.  This could easily be done on a Saturday and the kids could even help.  I plan on making more canvas signs for other holidays.  Here is my list:

Halloween: Boo (orange paint, black letters, purple ribbon (?))
Valentine's Day: Love (Red paint, white letters, pink ribbon)
St. Patrick's Day: Luck (Green background, White letters, Silver ribbon)
Thanksgiving: Thanks (brown paint, orange letters, red ribbon)
Everyday: Kaman (my last name) (Red background, Black Letters, Gold ribbon)
4th of July: Free (Red background, White letters, Blue Ribbon)

So overall I really like this project and I can't wait to make other versions! Until next time, let the journey begin!

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog!  Pinned and Done has been something I've been wanting to do since I stumbled upon pinterest.  I'm sure there are hundreds of blogs out there just like mine but I don't really care about that.  This is mostly for me as a creative outlet.  While I would love to post pictures of everything I've done it just isn't possible as a lot of the first posts are projects or recipes I have done in the past.  I will ty my best, however to post pictures in the future.  Let the journey begin!
